If they just installed a red light camera, and left everything else alone, I'd be all for it. But, from what I've read (no firsthand experience) what cities will do is install a red light camera, then reduce the length of the yellow light. This way they can make more revenue by getting more ppl running red lights. My real beef with this is that say you have someone behind you, closer than they should be, and as you approach a light it turns yellow. You know that if you don't hammer on the brakes you will get a ticket from the camera, and you also know if you hammer on the brakes the guy behind you will rear-end you. What do you do? That's my issue with them. I never run red lights, and I tell ppl when I'm following them not to even try to run a yellow light, because I just will not run a red light and I'll lose them. Around here at most of the big intersection it seems you'll have 3 or 4 or even 5 cars running the light after it's red. It's insane. Cops should sit there and write hundreds of tickets a day; I'd support that.
